Your kit should include: 1. 1 Set Xcessive designed VG engine mount brackets 2. 1 Xcessive Transmission cross member 3. 8 – 10mm x 1.5 x 16 Plated motor mount bolts 4. 4 – 10mm x 1.25 x 50 Fine thread Plated trans mounts bolts (for rubber mount only) 5. 4 - 25mm OD. X 33 steel transmission X member spacers (for rubber mount only) 6. 1 Xcessive, one piece driveline for the 5 speed manual transmission
Installation Instructions
1 Unfortunately the VG30 wasn’t made to fit the 240, so some fitting is required to both the VG30 engine and 240 chassis. Optional parts such as our VG shifter bracket kit and VG oil pan modification kit will help finish the mechanical installation. Xcessives oil pan modification kit doesn’t require any cross member modifications for the installation. Wiring and plumbing is up to you. 2 The stock 240 Air conditioning lines on the firewall will need to be relocated or removed. This will give you a maximum clearance from the VG to transmission mating face of 2 7/8” to the firewall. You will need to check that nothing on the engine protrudes past this dimension. This may mean relocating some of the VG wiring and cooling lines. 3 The new motor mounts come with new bolts for attachment to the engine block. The mounts have universal bolt pattern in them so they are not side specific. Use the 8 – 8mm x 25 bolts. 4 It is a good idea to figure on fitting and removing the VG at least a couple times to get all the required modifications completed and checked. 5 The drivers side outside valve cover on the VG may require some clearance to fit with the stock 240 brake booster. 6 It’s a good idea to align the engine using the new transmission mount when checking the fitment to be sure of proper engine placement. . The new mount has a dual pattern for both solid and rubber mounting. The kit has 4 - 10 mm fine thread bolts and four spacers, these are to be used if the rubber VG transmission mount is retained. The stock 240 trans mount bolts are used if the VG rubber mount is removed. 7 The stock VG intake may require some modifications. The air cross over tube (black powder coated) that is bolted to the top rear of the manifold may require modifications for hood clearance. This can be cut and re welded as needed. 8 The hard brake lines that protrude from the master cylinder towards the engine may cause interference with the intake manifold. The master cylinder can be replaced with a unit that will move the lines to the outside or the intake plenum can be modified. 9 Once you have the engine placed and bolted in, you can install the shifter of your choice and drive line. 10 The placement of the VG will clear the ABS unit but should be checked and monitored for engine movement. 11 All wiring and plumbing should be routed or supported to alleviate chaffing or pulling and stay away from the exhaust heat.
