JZX 90, Formed Steel Motor Mount Brackets

Toyota Cressida MX83 chassis (’89-’92) with 1JZ-2JZ swap,

Also fits JDM JZX81 chassis with 1J-2J swaps.

Your kit should include:

·         2 Plated Steel Motor Mount brackets

·         8 - 10mm x 1.25 x 20 Plated hex bolts

Instructions for in car installation.

1.        Depending on what is all ready on the engine, like a turbo or full header, in may be easier to put the vehicle on jack stands and get access from the bottom. You will need to hold up the motor while the stock brackets are removed. If doing a first time install, you will need to determine which set of mount bosses on the engine to use.

2.        The mounts are designed to fit either side of the engine and the slot for the X-member mount allows for adjustment when fitting in the car.

3.        If installing on an engine all ready mounted in a car, place a jack under the oil pan in such a way to lift the motor without denting the pan, loosen the body mount nuts then lift the motor until it’s just off the mounts. It can still be on the studs, but without pressure.

4.        Remove the four bolts (Per bracket) that hold the stock brackets to the side of the engine block and remove the stock brackets.

5.        The X-member mounts, (rubber mounts) will need the index pin on the top ground off. The new mounts do not use the index pin and will not sit properly if the pin is still in place.

6.        Bolt the new brackets to the block using the new supplied bolts. A mild thread locker can be used if vibration or loosening is a concern.

7.        With the block bolts tight and the engine sitting down, you can check the pan clearance to the cross member, this should not have changed but it’s a good idea to check. Soft mounts may allow the engine to rock too much and contact the cross member. You can add a washer or two between the new bracket and the motor mount to raise the engine if required.

8.        With clearance checked, you can now put the nuts back on the top of the motor mounts and tighten it down.
