Nissan VH45 to VG transmission Adapter Xcessive Manufacturing.com Nissan VH to VG Transmission adapter
Your kit should include:
Installation Instructions You will need a VG flywheel, clutch and starter for this install along with the VG transmission of your choice, NA or TT. If you are using an NA transmission with a TT clutch, you will need our VG starter shim to keep the starter properly spaced from the flywheel. 1. Remove the stock transmission, starter and flywheel from the VH45, make sure the mounting face on the back of the engine is clean of any debris. 2. Pre Fit the adapter ring to the block and check that the dowels do not protruded past the face of the adapter ring, grind if needed. You will notice a slot cut in the Passenger side of the adapter ring where the nose of the VG starter will sit, you will need to test fit the transmission to determine how much to clearance the block for the nose of the starter in this location. Using the two supplied 12mm dowels inserted into the transmission (see diagram 1 for location), test fit the adapter ring to the VG transmission making sure the mounting face of the transmission is clean of all nicks and debris. 3. Bolt on the adapter ring to the block with the 5 supplied 14mm bolts with thinned down heads, use a 22mm socket to tighten being sure that the socket sits flat at all times. The lower steel support brackets will use the 4 supplied 10mm x 16 bolts. See diagram 1. A mild thread locker can be used on the adapter bolts. DO NOT use a permanent thread locker in aluminum threads such as Loctite red. 4. The lower steel support brackets may need to be removed for notching/clearance depending on your final install of the engine. 5. The crankshaft will have a center pilot that needs to be ground down to 6.5 mm tall (.26”) so the new flywheel spacer will sit flat against the crank bolting face as well as removal of the small brass pin on the bolting face. Once the new spacer sits flat to the bolting face you can install the flywheel spacer and flywheel with the new 10mm bolts. Use the 8 supplied 10mm washers with the new flywheel bolts. Be sure to check that the bolts do not bottom out, if they bottom out you will need to grind the bolts to allow proper seating. Use thread locker on the flywheel bolts and torque to factory specs. Hold the clutch disc on the flywheel using a clutch pilot tool and check the springs in the hub for clearance to the new flywheel bolts by rotating the clutch 360 degrees while holding it tight to the flywheel. If contact exists, clearance the bolt heads as needed. 6. The flywheel spacer comes with a new pilot bushing installed. The clutch can now be installed. Follow factory or clutch manufacturer specs for clutch installation. 7. The two supplied 12 mm dowels for the bell housing should be installed from the test fit. With the clutch installed you can now bolt up the VG transmission using the supplied bell housing bolts. See diagram 1 for bolt locations. 8. If connecting factory sensors in your final install, the farthest rear sensor is the speed sensor, the front sensor is the back up lamp switch and the middle sensor is the neutral safety switch. 9. We recommend test fitting your shifter bracket and shifter at this time to work out any issues prior to installing the engine and transmission in a car. (If using the Xcessive bracket and linkage, see instructions included with shifter.)
