Installation Instructions If you are doing a new motor build, you can skip to steps 9 and 10, for in car installations start at step one. If you are doing an in car install, the two rear bolts on the new pan will not be accessible unless the transmission is loosened and allowed to separate on the bottom. Don’t let if fall!!! 1. Be sure the engine and exhaust has adequately cooled if it has recently run. 2. Place the car on jack stands or a lift to gain access under the car to the cross member. Do not brace on the cross member, you will be lowering it. 3. Drain the oil. 4. The engine will need to be lifted/held while the cross member is lowered. The new pan has the transmission brace brackets cast integral into the pan so you will need 6” of clearance between the cross member and engine main caps to slide the pan in. 5. Set up a hoist or jack in a manner to lift or hold the engine and allow the cross member to be lowered. 6. With the engine supported, unbolt the motor mounts and cross member. Lower the cross member. 7. Remove the two stock steel braces that go from the engine to the transmission. 8. Remove the old oil pan and clean the mounting flange on the block of any debris. 9. Test install the new pan with a couple of the new 6mm flange head bolts to gage how it will install before sealant is applied. It’s a good idea to test place the SR20 sump as well. Check access to the rear two pan bolts. 10. Apply sealant or use new pan gasket and bolt on new pan going evenly around the pan tightening the bolts. The SR20 sump can also be installed at this time. Be sure to use sealant on all the bolts for the SR20 sump. 11. Re mount the cross member/engine. If you loosened the transmission, be sure to tighten it!!
